Job summary

Spurs Sports & Entertainment is looking for Building Security Guards to ensure safety at the Frost Bank Center and other franchises. Responsibilities include controlling access, patrolling, responding to emergencies, and conducting security screenings.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and at least 1 year of security experience, with strong communication skills and the ability to make sound decisions. A Level II Security License is required within the first 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

Job description

Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) owns and operates the San Antonio Spurs, Austin Spurs, San Antonio FC, and manages day‑time operations of the Frost Bank Center, Toyota Field and STAR Complex.

Building Security Guards will maintain established security policies and procedures that protect SS&E franchises, including the Frost Bank Center, its assets, employees, and guests. The person in this position must control access into the Frost Bank Center, its properties, and secured areas, patrol the facilities, respond to alarms and emergency situations promptly, and make immediate decisions to keep the environment safe and secure.

All SS&E Security personnel are required to obtain a Level II Non‑Commissioned Security License from the Texas Department of Public Safety within the first 90 days of employment. The pay increase is contingent on obtaining the license and completing 90 days of employment. Failure to obtain the license within the first 90 days may result in termination of employment.

What You’ll Do:

• Regulate and control access at checkpoints to restricted and secure areas (event level, receiving dock, locker rooms, and other sensitive areas).
• Monitor, patrol, and respond to alarms and emergency situations inside and outside the Frost Bank Center and grounds, providing a quick, professional response.
• Serve and interact with guests at Frost Bank Center games and events, providing information and directions, and notifying appropriate authorities as needed.
• Complete effective communication, both verbally and in writing, including incident/accident reports.
• Conduct security screening and bag searches to ensure authorized persons enter the arena and prohibited items are not brought in.
• Consistently identify, diagnose, and resolve safety concerns; generate safety awareness and training; enforce guidelines to reduce unsafe practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in the security field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Level II Security License and Certification while in position.
• Good verbal and written communication and team‑building skills.
• Self‑starter with initiative and sound decision‑making skills.
• Ability to meet dress standards reflective of the SS&E brand.
• Ability to work long, flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• CPR Certification / Basic First Aid preferred.
• Knowledge of law enforcement or experience in the entertainment industry, security, military, or law enforcement preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift and carry 25+ pounds as needed.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods in extreme conditions during an assigned shift.
