This position involves performing various parks, recreation, and special event activities. Responsibilities include assisting with special events, recreation programs, light maintenance, custodial duties such as cleaning restrooms and parks, setting up and takedown of equipment, and supporting facility preparations.

Examples of Duties
  • Providing on-site assistance during special events, including vendor procedures, equipment setup and breakdown, and monitoring attendees.
  • Assisting with recreational programs.
  • Opening and/or closing outdoor facilities.
  • Performing general cleaning activities within City parks, including trash removal and litter patrol.
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.
  • Auditing parks and playgrounds for maintenance needs.
  • Supporting setup and takedown at special events.
  • Assisting with facility and park preparations for events.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to work safely under all assigned tasks.
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
  • Some experience in parks, recreation, and special events is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow basic oral and written instructions.
  • Good communication skills for working with staff and the public.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED; valid South Carolina driver’s license required.
