Job description

Position Type: Project-Based / Part-Time Contract (with opportunity for ongoing work)

About the Role

I am an independent Production Manager specializing in live events and weddings, and I am looking for an organized, motivated Event Production Coordinator to work directly alongside me on a project-by-project basis.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a career in live event production. While I’ll teach you the technical aspects of the industry, I need someone who is naturally organized, thrives in fast-paced environments, and genuinely enjoys bringing order to complex projects.

Technical theatre, entertainment technology, stage management, live event production, architecture, and related educational backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply. Recent graduates are welcome.

What You’ll Do

You’ll begin by helping me stay organized across multiple events and clients, with increasing responsibility as your experience grows.

Responsibilities include:

* Managing and organizing high-volume email correspondence

* Maintaining detailed production schedules and calendars

* Building, maintaining, and updating complex Excel and Google Sheets

* Tracking project timelines, equipment, labor, and production logistics

* Assisting with vendor communications and follow-up

* Organizing production documents and project files

* Preparing show paperwork and event documentation

* Assisting with purchasing and inventory tracking

* Learning Vectorworks drafting and production documentation

* Assisting with on-site event production as needed

As you gain experience, you’ll have opportunities to become involved in production management, Vectorworks drafting, vendor management, labor coordination, and technical event planning.

Required Qualifications

* Exceptional organizational skills

* Outstanding attention to detail

* Proficiency in both Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

* Self-motivated with excellent follow-through

* Comfortable learning new software and technical concepts

* Professional and dependable

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in any of the following is a plus but not required:

* Technical Theatre

* Entertainment Technology

* Stage Management

* Live Event Production

* Event Management

* Architecture or Design

* Vectorworks

* CAD software

* Audio, lighting, staging, rigging, or scenic production

* Fabrication or shop experience

What You’ll Learn

You’ll receive hands-on experience working directly with an experienced Production Manager on live events and weddings, gaining exposure to:

* Production management

* Vectorworks

* Audio, lighting, staging, rigging, and tenting fundamentals

* Scenic fabrication

* Budget tracking

* Client communication

* Real-world event problem solving

Who Will Thrive in This Role

The ideal candidate enjoys creating order from complexity. You notice small details others miss, love a well-organized spreadsheet, keep detailed to-do lists, and find satisfaction in making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

I’m not looking for someone who already knows everything. I’m looking for someone who’s excited to learn, enjoys solving complex problems, and takes pride in being exceptionally organized. If you’re the type of person who color-codes spreadsheets, loves checklists, notices details others miss, and enjoys making chaos feel manageable, you’ll probably enjoy this role.

If you’re looking for a position where you’ll be mentored, challenged, and gradually trusted with increasing responsibility on exciting live events, I’d love to hear from you.

About Me

I’m an independent Production Manager specializing in live events and weddings, overseeing projects from concept through execution. My work spans audio, lighting, staging, tenting, rigging, fabrication, vendor and labor management, logistics, and technical production.

I’m looking for more than just project support—I’d like to find someone who can become a long-term production partner. My goal is to train and mentor the right person across all aspects of the work, gradually expanding their responsibilities as their knowledge and confidence grow.

Initially, you’ll work closely alongside me, helping manage the organization and coordination behind each project. Over time, I’d like this role to grow into someone I can trust to take ownership of portions of a production and, eventually, manage projects independently.

Compensation & Schedule

$35–$50/hour, based on experience and skill level.

This is a project-based position, so hours will vary depending on the production schedule and current workload. I anticipate needing approximately 10 hours of support per week on a fairly regular basis, with busier periods reaching up to 20 hours per week. There may also be slower periods or even occasional months with fewer hours, depending on the project calendar.

The role has the potential for ongoing work across multiple projects, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term working relationship in the live event industry.

As responsibilities grow and you become able to take greater ownership of projects independently, there will be opportunities for the role and compensation to grow accordingly.
