Job summary

VenuWorks seeks an experienced Event Manager to coordinate client services and events at the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center. You will serve as the primary liaison between clients, promoters, and facility departments, ensuring flawless event logistics and on-site execution during events.

The role requires supervising Event Services staff, guiding clients through contracts and operational requirements, and maintaining strong cross-functional communication across departments.

Qualifications

Summary

The Event Manager provides client services support through the planning, organization, and execution of events at the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center. This role acts as the primary liaison between clients, promoters, and facility departments, coordinating all event logistics. Flexible hours and on‑site presence during events are required.

  • Serves as the primary facility liaison to clients and promoters, coordinating all event logistics and ensuring client expectations are understood and met.
  • Supervises Event Services staff and oversees facility operations related to assigned events.
  • Guides clients through event preparation, explaining contract provisions, policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Ensures adherence to all contractual agreements, CBAs, and organizational policies.
  • Communicates event details clearly and promptly to all operational departments.
  • Prepares and reviews floor plans, seating charts, and event diagrams using AutoCAD.
  • Coordinates with service vendors and internal departments to secure equipment, staffing, and services.
  • Tracks deadlines and client requirements, including floor plan submissions, room setups, and insurance documentation.
  • Prepares cost estimates and monitors final billing, including labor and additional services.
  • Monitors event setups and work closely with Operations Leads to ensure accurate execution.
  • Supports training and development of Event Services staff.
  • Maintains close communication with clients and facility teams during events, addressing requests and resolving issues.
  • Attends planning and organizational meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises Event Services staff and performs full supervisory functions in accordance with VenuWorks policies, including hiring, training, assigning work, performance evaluation, and addressing employee concerns in coordination with Human Resources.

Education And/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience with proven ability to manage large teams and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of facility management, event services, and equipment operations in a similar venue.
Experience And Skills
  • Proficiency with event management software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, venue management systems).
  • Experience working with promoters, production teams, vendors, and client groups.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience working with cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with ability to anticipate and address operational challenges.
  • Knowledge of ADA requirements, fire codes, and safety regulations for public events.
  • Experience with cost estimates, billing, and budget monitoring.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with facility‑wide and/or event order systems (e.g., Ungerboeck, VenueOps, Social Tables) preferred.

Salary Range

$70,304 – $80,000 Annually, Exempt

Physical Demands
