Job summary

Vanderbilt University is seeking a Moving & Event Set-up Technician to join the University Maintenance and Operations team. This role involves moving and transporting items across campus and setting up and breaking down event furniture and equipment, reporting to the Move Crew & Pest Control Manager.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver license, and a willingness to work overtime.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One year of previous experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver License required; must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Move and transport furniture, boxes, hard and soft material and various equipment safely.
  • Set up and breakdown event furniture and equipment (tables, chairs, tents, staging, etc.).
  • Operate material handling devices and equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and dollies as needed.
  • Operate and drive vehicles (box trucks, pickup trucks) and tow trailers when required.
  • Follow written and verbal directions and report to supervisor with necessary information.
  • Load and unload trucks; secure loads with tie-down straps and anchors.
  • Assist other trades as needed within skill level.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting >50 lbs, bending, climbing, and stairs work; overtime may be required.
