Job summary

Obsidian is seeking a senior sector-focused analyst to map a company’s economic network and assess catalysts using primary filings and industry data. You will identify related firms ahead of events and separate direct exposure from thematic links, then estimate impact and mechanisms behind revenue, margins and earnings.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in senior research or event-driven roles, with hands-on experience mapping networks from primary sources.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of direct experience in senior sector research, lead equity analysis, or event-driven investing.
• Hands-on experience mapping a company’s economic network from primary filings, not from screens or third-party tags.
• Brand-name fund experience is a strong signal but not required if performance on work sample is strong.

Responsibilities

• Map suppliers, customers, competitors, distributors, substitutes and geographic exposure from filings and related sources.
• Identify related companies ahead of an event and separate direct exposure from weak thematic correlation.
• Estimate direction, magnitude, horizon and confidence, detailing revenue, margin, earnings or valuation mechanisms.
• Review model analyses and grade them against your own standards.
