Job summary

Oak View Group is seeking an Event Bartender to serve beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) at Texas Tech events. You will work in a fast-paced environment, maintain attendance, and handle shifts for home football games.

The role is hourly and tip-eligible, with flexibility to cover events as needed. Responsibilities include following bar notes, upselling, handling cash, maintaining hygiene, and ensuring compliance with state regulations (TABC certification preferred).

Qualifications

  • Six months or more bartending experience.
  • Accurate cash handling skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and long hours.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellence in guest service, interaction with co-workers, and uniform standards.
  • Follow bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks, including state/federal regulations.
  • Know various beer, wine, and spirits and upsell products to guests.
  • Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size.
  • Check guests’ ID to verify minimum age for alcohol service.
  • Communicate a cut-off to a guest as required.
  • Listen and respond to customer requests or concerns.
  • De-escalate intoxicated guest situations and involve management or security as needed.
  • Request additional product or restock as required.
  • Handle cash and operate a bank at the bar.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary workstation and equipment.
  • Assist with setup/breakdown of bar equipment and cooler organization.

Job description

Position Summary

The Event Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non‑alcoholic, during events at Texas Tech. The role requires a personable, professional individual capable of working in an ever‑changing fast‑paced environment. Employees must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need. Event bartenders are required to work all Texas Tech Home Football Games.

This role pays an hourly rate of $8.00–$10.00 and is tip‑eligible.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellence in guest service, interaction with co‑workers, and uniform standards.
  • Follow bar pre‑shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks, including state/federal regulations concerning the distribution of alcohol. Must be TABC certified.
  • Know various beer, wine, and spirits and be able to suggestively upsell products to guests.
  • Pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size.
  • Check guests’ ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify the minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages.
  • Communicate a cut‑off to a guest as required.
  • Listen and respond to any customer requests or concerns.
  • De‑escalate intoxicated guest situations. If a guest becomes confrontational, belligerent, or uses extreme profanity, the bartender may contact management or security as required.
  • Contact a management member if unable to resolve or decide beyond the scope of standard decision‑making.
  • Request additional product or restock product as required.
  • Handle cash accurately; responsible for issuing a bank at the corresponding bar.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation at all times. Ensure bar equipment is clean and well maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned, such as set‑up and breakdown of bar equipment and assisting with organization of the cooler.
Qualifications
  • Six months or more experience bartending.
  • Accurate cash handling skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to be self‑directed while working in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and long hours.
  • Bartending school preferred.
