Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The student assistant will support the Department of Theatre Arts in theatre operations by helping plan and execute special and donor events and assisting with the creation and setup of engaging lobby displays. The role also includes front-of-house responsibilities, such as supporting usher supervision and house management, that will be assigned on an as-needed basis. welcoming and assisting patrons, answering questions, and providing customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Student will assist in planning and executing special events, with a primary focus on donor-related events.
  • Student will help create lobby displays
  • Student will help create and engage patrons with lobby table displays
  • Front-of-house responsibilities on an as needed basis
  • Coordinate patron seating, including late seating and accessibility needs
  • Address patron concerns and provide excellent customer service
  • Communicate with box office, stage management, and production staff
  • Enforce theater policies and safety procedures
  • Assist with house setup, cleanliness, and presentation
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
  • Liberty University Student

Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment: The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting or theater. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements

No driving required. If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position. Starting at $12.77. Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
