Mary Cariola Center, Inc. in New York seeks a part-time direct support professional to assist residents in family homes, respite, and community settings, with availability in evenings and weekends.

You will help with daily living activities, mobility, communication, personal care, documentation, and adherence to HIPAA and agency policies; training such as SCIP-r, CPR and First Aid is provided by the agency.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to participate in physical and recreational activities.
• Must possess a NYS driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate active participation of residents in habilitation plans in family homes, respite and community.
• Assist with lifting, moving and positioning tasks as needed.
• Support gross, fine motor and range of motion skills.
• Promote self-care, activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Foster communication through sign language, pictograms, and devices.
• Assist with recreational activities and community outings.
• Implement SCIP-r behavior support plans accurately.
• Complete documentation using PrecisionCare software and written forms when necessary.
• Provide personal and physical care including bathing, toileting, dressing and eating as needed.
• Perform housekeeping tasks as needed.
• Follow HIPAA confidentiality laws and agency ethics.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in required trainings.
