Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital in Waltham is seeking an Environmental Services team member to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff. You will perform hard floor care, vacuuming, trash disposal, surface cleaning, and restock supplies.

The role supports hospital operations by meeting cleanliness standards for assigned areas; requires reading instructions in English and basic math, attention to detail, and courteous interaction with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
• Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, and comparing numbers and letters.

Responsibilities

• Perform hard floor care including dusting and damp mopping.
• Provide carpet and furniture care including vacuuming, spot removal, and shampooing.
• Collect and dispose of trash, soiled linens, and recyclable materials, and replace liners.
• Clean and maintain horizontal and vertical surfaces such as vents, light fixtures, windows, and doors.
• Clean restrooms, including fixtures, and replenish supplies.
• Maintain assigned areas including stairwells, elevators, furniture, equipment, and patient care items.
• Change curtains, draperies, blinds, and shades as needed.
• Operate electric and battery-powered cleaning equipment and assist with moving furniture or equipment.
• Pick up supplies, handle regulated medical waste, and respond to spills or emergencies while using proper protective equipment.
• Clean and remake beds, stretchers, and exam tables.
