Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking a Healthy Living Coach in Bonner Springs, KS. You will conduct coaching sessions, set goals with members, and provide ongoing support to help them achieve sustainable healthy lifestyles.

Evening and weekend availability is required, and you will work within the YMCA’s wellness programs to connect members with services and staff to maximize engagement.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• 2+ years experience in health, health promotion or fitness-related fields.
• Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
• Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of physical activity and nutrition for adults.
• Willing to work evenings and weekends.
• Proficient with Google Docs and basic computer use.

Responsibilities

• Provide accountability to members by scheduling appointments, reminder phone calls and follow-up.
• Work with Welcome Center to inform potential members about wellness appointments and enroll new members.
• Introduce members to YMCA programs and connect them to staff and members.
• Conduct wellness appointments as needed.
• Guide members toward personal wellness in a coaching program.
• Identify stages of change and motivations for change.
• Develop personal wellness goals and strategies.
• Provide ongoing support through weekly coaching sessions.
• Provide accountability tools via progress tracking and follow-up.
• Educate members on wellness strategies based on goals and motivation.
• Maintain a clean, safe wellness area and equipment.
