Job summary

West Morris Area YMCA seeks an Evening/Weekend Supervisor to support safe, clean, and welcoming operations during evenings and weekends. You will serve as Manager on Duty, coordinate with the Facilities team, and ensure the Y is secure, well-maintained, and inviting for all members and guests.

This role requires CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, plus knowledge of facility systems and safety practices. A background in facility management is preferred. The work shifts are Tue and Fri evenings.

Qualifications

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required for the Professional Rescuer.
  • Background in facility management or related field preferred.
  • Experience with building operations and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety and cleanliness of the YMCA; acts as Manager on Duty on assigned nights.
  • Maintains records of repairs and ensures building security during shifts.
  • Reports incidents, needed repairs, and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Follows SOPs and EAPs; collaborates with Facilities team on projects.
  • Interacts positively with members, guests and staff to foster a welcoming environment.

Day and Times: Tuesdays from 4pm to 9:15pm AND Fridays from 4pm to 8:15pmPOSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Health & Wellness - Fitness, the Evening/Weekend Supervisor is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for all members and guests regardless of background or abilities; and working with the Facilities team to ensure the cleanliness, safety, appearance and proper function of YMCA property and systems. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Ensures the safety and cleanliness of the YMCA and serves as Manager on Duty on assigned nights.Ensures that the Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties associated with the care and maintenance of all major YMCA systems and equipmentRecords and reports all needed repairsEnsures YMCA building and property is secure during shifts and reports ALL incidents, needed repairs and hazardous conditions to supervisorOther tasks and projects, as assignedLEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:Critical Thinking and Decision MakingAbility to analyze and respond to safety and emergency situations.As Manager on Duty, acts as the representative of the Full-Time Staff in the event that no Full-Time Staff are on siteCommunication SkillsInforms team members and/or supervisor(s) of work-related topics, including, but not limited to:Building-wide issues or concernsDesired/necessary schedule changes & coverage requestsCultivates a positive member experience through kind and thoughtful engagementOperational EffectivenessCompletes tasks in a timely manner and escalates issues when appropriateFollows and implements all SOPs and EAPs, when necessaryCollaborationKnowledge and understanding of each department’s unique needs and requirementsQUALIFICATIONS:Ability to comprehend product labels and instructions to ensure safe product handling.Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, their safety, and efficient use.Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of YMCA equipment, and major facility systemsMaintains reports and records of maintenance requests.Ability to analyze and respond to safety and emergency situations.Interacts in a positive manner with members, guests, and team.Possess and maintain certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer.Completes required Praesidium training within 30 days of hire.Completes additional training, as assigned.Knowledge and use of hand tools, required.Background in facility management, strongly preferred.Knowledge of large mechanical systems, or history of trade work, preferred.Experience with power tools, preferred.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, climb ladders, walk, shovel snow, plow snow, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual perception.YMCA building equipment and systems can be heavy.
