Job summary

Meriwether Godsey, Inc. is seeking a full-time Cook in Byfield, MA to prepare, cook, and present meals for daily service and special events at The Governor's Academy.

You will work evenings and weekend mornings in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen, ensuring quality and safety at all times. The role requires a high school diploma, 2–4 years cooking experience, ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 6 months, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of prior cooking experience preferred.
• ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Experience with high-volume school dining operations.
• Ability to measure products and convert units of measure.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Strong communication, organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to switch between locations and duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion large quantities of meat, fish, vegetables, cereals, soups, sauces, fruits, bread, desserts, and other items.
• Cook items in batches close to serving time to ensure quality and timely service.
• Follow recipes and suggest changes to improve product quality.
• Maintain proper temperatures and safe storage of all foods.
• Record production, attendance and leftovers to aid forecasting.
• Keep coolers, freezers and storerooms organized and labeled.
• Attend production meetings daily and contribute ideas on leftovers utilization and efficiency.
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
