Job summary

City of Providence is seeking a Utility Maintenance Worker (Limited Union) for the Providence Water Supply Board. The role covers general maintenance of water facilities, janitorial and seasonal tasks, and operating equipment under supervision with standard guidance.

The position runs 1 PM–9:30 PM, with duties including HVAC operation, cleaning, grounds upkeep, and use of power tools. Candidates must meet the listed qualifications and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
• Experience operating small power and hand tools.
• Valid State Driver’s License and ability to maintain vehicle logs.
• Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform arduous work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate building HVAC systems, exhaust fans, and generators.
• Perform painting and janitorial duties as assigned.
• Clean and maintain walls, ceilings, floors, bathrooms, windows, and carpets.
• Handle seasonal grounds maintenance including snow removal and landscaping.
• Use small power and hand tools for maintenance tasks.
• Operate Providence Water vehicles and transport materials as needed.
• Follow Providence Water safety procedures and perform related duties.
