Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a part-time Activity Therapist to support patient treatment plans in a healthcare setting. The role runs Monday through Friday, 4p-8p, totaling 20 hours per week, with responsibilities to assess, plan, and implement therapeutic activity programs to advance patient progress.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field, with at least two years of recreation experience in healthcare, plus CPR and de-escalation/restraint

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Two or more years' experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility is required.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessment through patient observation and patient/family interview to develop and implement the treatment plan.
• Plan, organize, direct and implement activities within the treatment program to facilitate patient progress.
• Plan and implement an activities program including therapeutic leisure skills, leisure education and leisure awareness.
• Facilitate and lead activity sessions to improve patient mental and physical well-being.
• Instruct patients in activities and techniques (sports, dance, music, art, relaxation) to meet needs.
