Job summary

Children’s Hospital of Michigan is seeking a Telemetry Associate to support continuous ECG rhythm monitoring and equipment maintenance. You will assist the medical and nursing staff, initiate tracing as needed, and promptly alert nursing personnel to rhythm changes or equipment issues.

Under direct supervision, you will perform clerical and receptionist tasks, use the online terminal to transcribe orders, and enter, retrieve, and correct patient information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• 6 months of prior experience with substantial computer usage, or credit hours in computer classes.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Must complete 3–4 week program in basic cardiac arrhythmia monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assist medical and nursing staff in continuous monitoring of patient ECG rhythms and maintain monitoring equipment.
• Initiate tracing if changes occur in patient rhythm and alert nursing personnel.
• Maintain and monitor rate limits and determine if irregularities are due to rhythm changes or equipment malfunction.
• Alert repair personnel of machine malfunction.
• Under supervision, perform clerical and receptionist duties and operate an on-line computer terminal to transcribe orders and manage patient information.
