Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to process instrumentation for the operating room and ancillary areas, following regulatory and internal standards. Under supervision of the Sterile Processing Manager, you will decontaminate, assemble and sterilize instrumentation, operate department equipment per guidelines, and document

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED is required.
• Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technologist experience or enrollment/completion of a Sterile Processing Certification or Surgical Tech program.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, assembles and sterilizes instrumentation according to national guidelines and internal standards.
• Operates departmental equipment within appropriate guidelines/policies/procedures.
• Demonstrates high levels of quality control by following departmental policies/procedures and thorough documentation of sterilization process.
• Effectively prioritizes and communicates customer needs within the department and with customers.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Understands and identifies instrumentation and equipment utilized in all customer areas.
• Performs other assigned duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager related to Sterile Processing.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
