Job summary

Northside Hospital in Atlanta is seeking a Laboratory Technologist/Phlebotomist to coordinate specimen collection and processing to meet daily patient care needs across age groups. You will support the laboratory under the Laboratory Manager and ensure adherence to standards.

Responsibilities include implementing changes to improve operations, maintaining clear communication, and supervising assigned personnel while meeting color vision requirements and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must hold a BS in medical technology or related science with 1 year clinical lab experience, or a BS/BA in Education, Business or health-related field with 3 years healthcare or lab experience, or an Associate degree with 5 years of healthcare or lab experience, or 10 years as a phlebotomist and lab data clerk.
• Knowledge of CAP, AABB, GA DHR, Joint Commission and CLIA
• Ability to assist or direct development, organization and implementation of projects, programs, and policies for lab operations.
• Ability to work independently and supervise assigned personnel.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Color vision acuity is required and color-acuity screening will be administered.
• Preferred: knowledge of SunQuest and Microsoft applications.
• Preferred: knowledge of specimen procurement regulations and related processes.

• Coordinate all aspects of specimen collections or processing to meet lab support needs for all patient ages.
• Recommend and implement changes as needed to improve specimen procurement and processing.
