Job summary

The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/per diem Nursing Assistant 2, NS24 SICU (Evenings). Under direction of clinical staff, provide direct hands-on care including hygiene, mobility, feeding and basic treatments to patients in the SICU while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
• Possession of current CNA certification may substitute for the required experience.
• 55 B/C program eligibility may be considered with a letter of eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Under direction, perform duties similar to Nursing Assistant 1 with greater proficiency.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, perineal care, mobility, feeding and daily living activities.
• Take vital signs and monitor patients; observe and report changes to clinical staff.
• Administer basic treatments and assist with hygiene, comfort and safety in the SICU environment.
• Assist with transporting patients and handling basic supplies and equipment.
• Maintain clean, sanitary patient areas and assist with routine housekeeping related to patient care.
