Job summary

PACCAR is seeking an Evening Shift Safety Specialist in Denton, TX to assist the Safety Manager with developing and implementing safety and health programs. The role focuses on accident prevention, training, hazardous materials management, ergonomics, and DOT compliance across the Peterbilt division.

The selected candidate will support administrative controls and ensure OSHA and local regulations alignment, while coordinating resources within the division.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • One year of experience required.
  • Strong computer skills with an advanced level of experience in Microsoft Office, i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, and representatives of the company as well as dealers and customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills, exhibits a professional demeanor, and possesses strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate injuries and review accident reports, coordinating corrective measures.
  • Ability to develop training programs and slide decks for safety and health topics.
  • Deliver health and safety training in alignment with the annual training plan and drive 100% completion across operations and support functions.
  • Observe work practices onsite and create solutions that optimize employee health and wellness as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with management to conduct risk assessments for current jobs and new equipment; implement risk mitigation measures including ergonomics.
  • Build cross-functional relationships to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in safety committee teams, support site safety champions, and share best practices across locations.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with departmental representatives to address employee safety concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requisition Summary

This position will assist the Safety Manager in the development and implementation of Peterbilt's safety and health programs to include accident prevention, safety training, hazardous materials management, ergonomics, Department of Transportation (DOT compliance requirements, and the Plant Emergency Team. The chosen incumbent will assist with the division’s safety and occupational health administrative controls to align with corporate’s expectations and ensure the division’s safety compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local agencies. The position will also assist and manage the safety department resources throughout the division. The core hours for this position are from 4:30 PM - 1:00AM, M-F.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Participate insafety committeeteams,supportsite safety champions, and other safety-led groups; share best practices across locations
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with departmental representatives to address employee safety concerns
