Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry or equivalent BS degree with clinical rotations.
• Completion of an associate degree in medical laboratory technology.
• ASCP certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of infection control techniques and procedures.
• Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests with accuracy.
• Skill in using automated laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs all test procedures as listed in the procedure manual.
• Performs and records scheduled instrument preventative maintenance.
• Follows quality control procedures and documents corrective action if needed.
• Verifies turnaround times, calls, critical values, and specimen identification.
• Verifies completion of stat and routine results timely.
• Records workload and statistics in the computer system.
• Performs duties safely following department safety rules.
• Performs other related duties as instructed.
