Job summary

Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA is seeking a reliable Patient Transporter to join the evening shift in a full-time role. The transporter will move patients safely throughout the hospital and support transfers with professionalism and compassion.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (GED accepted), strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle a fast-paced environment. BLS certification is preferred or obtained after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous customer service/healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to push, pull, lift and maneuver patients and equipment safely.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude.
• BLS certification preferred or obtained within designated timeframe after hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients safely via wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed throughout the facility.
• Assist with patient transfers while following established safety protocols.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
• Respond promptly to transport requests and prioritize assignments appropriately.
• Maintain patient dignity, comfort, and confidentiality at all times.
• Transport medical equipment, specimens, and supplies as needed.
• Follow infection prevention and patient safety guidelines.
• Accurately document transport activities according to department procedures.
