Job summary

Child & Family Service in Honolulu seeks a Shelter Services Advocate to promote an empowering environment, ensure basic needs, safety and support for participants in the shelter program.

Under supervision of the Shelter Manager or Program Supervisor, you will provide trauma-informed engagement, help participants heal from trauma, and connect them with resources while working the 3 pm–11 pm shift. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma and relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year of work in domestic violence field or related target group.
• Two years of experience preferred; if not, 6 months of related experience plus training steps.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and ability to engage survivors from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Promote an empowering environment and ensure basic needs (food, clothing, shelter) are met.
• Provide trauma-informed engagement and services to participants.
• Promote safety and support within the shelter program; work within the 3 pm–11 pm shift.
