Job summary

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh seeks a Resident Assistant to supervise shelter residents, enforce rules, and perform safety checks, ensuring a safe, supportive environment aligned with the mission of Northside Common Ministries. The RA will assist residents with daily activities and maintain accurate records.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience with diverse populations or shelter operations, plus CPR/First Aid/AED

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 1 year experience with diverse populations; homeless shelter operation knowledge preferred.
• Experience facilitating workshops and service referrals is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hourly safety checks and maintain logs.
• Supervise shelter residents and enforce policies.
• De-escalate conflicts and report incidents to Shelter Coordinator.
• Ensure safety and security of the shelter premises.
• Support residents with daily living activities.
• Maintain logs and incident reports; assist with handovers.
• Report maintenance needs; follow regulations and policies.
