Job summary

Willmar Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Custodian at the Middle School. The role involves cleaning interiors, maintaining school grounds, and performing related tasks under supervision of the Health and Safety Coordinator.

The position is full-time, 8 hours per day, with a schedule roughly 2:30pm to 11pm, 260 working days per year, and a benefits package including health and life insurance, 403b matching funds, and PERA retirement.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
• Ability to clean in a thorough manner.
• Ability to determine basic safety issues and assess risk factors.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment to test, repair, or replace equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Following custodial schedules and department standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning of school building interiors and related work.
• Assists in security-related tasks and building safety.
• Assists with setup for events and storage duties.
• Maintains supplies and cleans fixtures and restrooms.
• Performs upkeep of floors and general building maintenance.
• Repairs and replaces basic equipment and light fixtures.
• Handles external safety tasks (snow shoveling, salting).
• Attends training sessions and health and safety meetings.
• Contributes to efficient operation of the Building and Grounds Department.
