Job summary

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors at the AIU Special Education Schools. This role focuses on evening shifts, performing routine cleaning, light maintenance, and support for school operations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior custodial experience is preferred. The position emphasizes collaboration with teachers and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred, especially in an educational or healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Basic understanding of maintenance tools and techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, restrooms, halls, offices, and common areas daily.
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces following health and safety guidelines.
• Restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Perform routine maintenance and light repairs; report major needs to Facilities Manager.
• Set up furniture and equipment for events and assist staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support school operations.
