Job summary

The Tennessee School for the Blind (TSB) is seeking a dependable Custodial Service Worker to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role supports the health and wellness of our visually impaired student population by ensuring facilities are maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness and safety.

Shift: Second shift 2pm – 10:30pm, Monday – Friday. Duties include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, restocking supplies, reporting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Higher degree may substitute for experience.
• Familiar with safety practices in custodial work.
• Second shift availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking supplies.
• Routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
• Empties trash, disposes to dumpsters, and bags trash for disposal.
• Unlocks doors and ensures doors are locked after cleaning areas.
• Reports needs to appropriate staff and checks supply levels.
• Promotes safety and environmental practices in the workplace.
• Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
• Performs cleaning functions based on seasonal/project requirements.
• May assist vendors or report issues to supervisors.
• May assist with snow removal and light maintenance tasks.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
