Job summary

West Cabarrus High in Concord, NC is seeking a Custodian for the 2nd shift to maintain clean, safe school facilities. Under general supervision, you will sweep, mop, vacuum, wash walls, and manage trash, with some light maintenance tasks.

The ideal candidate has basic knowledge of janitorial methods, the ability to follow instructions, and a reliable attendance record. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and a valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of janitorial methods, materials and equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Has proven attendance record.
• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep sidewalks and walkways outside of buildings; police grounds, pick up debris; shovels snow and/or applies de-icing compounds as needed.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax and buff floor surfaces.
• Scrub and clean bathrooms, including toilets, mirrors, wash basins, urinals, and dispose of waste.
• Empty trash and sort recyclables.
• Dust furniture, walls, window sills, blinds and other woodwork.
• Clean windows, walls, woodwork, blinds and light fixtures.
• Clean drinking fountains.
• Move furniture as required.
• Open/secure buildings and adjust lights and climate controls as needed.
