The custodian will perform major cleaning tasks, restrooms sanitation, light maintenance, and assist with setting up facilities for events. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift 55 pounds, push/pull 20 pounds, and the willingness to obtain a Special Class Boilers license within 9

• Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally.
• Pass pre-employment background check and physical examination.
• Ability to push / pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently.
• Upon hire-Special Class Boilers license is preferred or must be obtained within 9 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying trash (lifting 55 lbs) and pencil sharpeners, cleaning chalkboards and disinfecting drinking fountains.
• Clean restrooms, including floors and fixtures; ensure restrooms are clean and disinfected.
• Wash windows and sills (door glass).
• Replace light bulbs, fill dispensers, set up facilities for student and adult use (lifting furniture, boxes, cafeteria tables—55 lbs).
• Make minor building repairs and report major repairs to Lead Custodian.
• Work overtime and on weekends to meet District events and facility schedules.
• Ensure doors and windows are properly locked.
• Go up/down stairs, bend and stand as needed in a daily shift.
• Assist in major summer clean-up such as washing desks and chairs, walls, and floors.
• Shovel snow and apply ice melt during winter.
