Job summary

Ozark R-VI School District is seeking a Custodian I to maintain a clean, safe school environment. The role reports to the Principal or Director of Custodial Services and requires lifting up to 50 pounds, and ability to operate basic maintenance equipment.

Candidates should be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision, read and write, and use district HR software. Employment is 12 months per board policy GBDBA and non-exempt.

Qualifications

• Understanding of proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to perform daily tasks with minimum supervision.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
• Ability to use basic power tools.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to read and write.
• Basic computer skills – Send and receive email, use district HR program.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Shovels, plows, and salts/sands walks, driveways, parking areas and steps.
• Follows CCAP guidelines for district standards of cleanliness.
• Keeps grounds free of rubbish/trash.
• Performs yard keeping chores such as mowing and tree trimming.
• Makes minor repairs; reports major repairs to the coordinator.
• Reports any damage to school property to the coordinator or principal.
• Assumes responsibility for opening/closing of the building as required.
• Moves furniture and equipment as needed.
• Complies with storage and disposal of trash and waste procedures.
• Ensures all safety procedures are followed by all employees.
• Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor.
