Job summary

Spokane Public Schools is seeking a dedicated custodian to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming school facilities. You will perform sweeping, mopping, dusting, window cleaning, and basic boiler operation while ensuring health and safety procedures.

The role includes supervising 1-2 site custodial staff, handling events, and adhering to district safety rules. Requires high school diploma and ability to lift 50 pounds; benefits include SEBB health insurance and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform labor.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend operational instructions and reports.
• Available for emergency contact and after-hours work as requested.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials safety and disposal procedures.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with scheduling/work order systems.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Follow cleaning procedures and safety rules to keep facilities safe.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop floors, move furniture, dust and clean fixtures.
• Clean gutters, operate cleaning equipment, and help with light maintenance.
• Maintain sidewalks and perform winter de-icing as needed.
• Oversee 1-2 site custodial staff, training and coaching as required.
• Secure buildings and support crisis plans.
• Coordinate event setup and support as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
