Job summary

Immediate starting date and duties include general custodial tasks and maintenance of school facilities. The role requires ability to follow oral and written directions, perform routine custodial work, and maintain a safe, clean environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work.
• Skills in understanding and carrying out oral and written directions.
• Using common cleaning equipment.
• Doing manual work associated with custodial duties.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, waxes and scrubs floors.
• Dusts, waxes, washes and polishes furniture and woodwork.
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
• Washes windows and walls, cleans restrooms and classroom heaters and screens, sweeps sidewalks and play areas.
• Moves and arranges furniture and equipment.
• Cleans fountains.
• Polishes metalwork.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Replenishes supplies.
• Turns out lights and locks doors and windows.
• Reports the need for repairs.
• Watches buildings to prevent vandalism.
• Operates power cleaning equipment.
