Job summary

Madison County Schools’ B. Michael Caudill Middle School in Richmond, KY is seeking a Custodian for the 2nd shift (8 hours). The role includes routine custodial work across classrooms, restrooms, gym, and common areas, with duties ranging from cleaning floors and surfaces to reporting hazards and maintaining security.

Starting date is immediate. The contract includes health benefits. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; prior custodial experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required by Kentucky law.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial activities at assigned school site; sweep, scrub, mop, wax and polish floors and vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets; glue and perform carpet stretching and repairs as assigned.
• Clean classrooms, restrooms, showers, locker rooms, shops, cafeteria, offices and related facilities; sweep, mop and clean gymnasium floor; spot mop spills and remove gum and debris; monitor gym events and protect the building.
• Clean and disinfect drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, showers and urinals; clean mirrors, tile and windows.
• Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards; report maintenance needs; maintain security; report suspicious individuals.
• Wash windows and walls; clean chalkboards and erasers; move and arrange furniture for events.
• Lock/unlock doors and gates; maintain security; operate alarm system as directed.
• Order supplies; dispose of trash; wash trash cans; follow sanitation procedures.
• Move books, supplies and equipment; operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, carpet shampooers.
• Shovel, plow and sand walkways; respond to emergency cleanups; maintain records of maintenance and safety issues.
• Maintain regular attendance and perform related duties.
