Job summary

DeKalb County Central United School District seeks a 2nd shift Custodian at DeKalb High School in Waterloo, IN to maintain a clean, secure facility.

Under supervision, you will sweep, mop, dust, empty trash, clean restrooms, wash windows, prepare spaces for events, and assist with building maintenance. This is a 40-hour per week role, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a 1/2 hour meal break.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Ability to perform moderately to heavy manual tasks.
• Ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals and MSDS knowledge.
• Capable of establishing cooperative working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an assigned school facility, group of buildings, or office space in a clean, orderly, and secure manner following a schedule.
• Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and seal floors; vacuum rugs and carpets; dust and polish furnishings.
• Clean restrooms, locker rooms, and showers; wash windows and walls; clean whiteboards.
• Move and arrange furniture for events; replace light bulbs and lighting tubes; lock/unlock doors and gates; operate security systems.
• Assist in receiving and distributing supplies; perform routine grounds care and report vandalism as assigned.
