Job summary

Decatur Public Schools District #61 is seeking a Substitute Custodian for the 2nd shift on an external-only basis. The position supports a safe, clean school environment and reports to the Principal and Custodial Foreman.

Qualifications

• The person selected should possess traits to affect a highly successful custodial program.
• Integrity above reproach in all interactions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.

Responsibilities

• Complete regular work assignments as outlined by the Supervisor of Custodial Operations.
• Receive special work assignments from the head custodian, principal, or custodial foreman.
• Accept or reject overtime assignments per Article VI of the Agreement.
• Coordinate completion of employee time sheets with the head custodian and/or building principal.
• Complete minor repair jobs as required.
• Complete summer and/or school-vacation work as may be required.
• Keep the school building and grounds clean and in proper order.
• Work cooperatively with the administration and educational staff.
• Adhere to Board policies and regulations as applicable to custodial operations.
• Report work-related problems to the head custodian and/or custodial foreman.
• Report personnel-related problems to the building principal and/or custodial foreman.
• Work with other service departments.
• Inspect for unsafe conditions and take prompt corrective action.
