Job summary

Jefferson High School in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Custodian - Level GX at 1.0 FTE (Permanent). The successful candidate will join the district's custodial team to maintain a clean, safe school environment and support campus operations.

Responsibilities include cleaning, basic facilities upkeep, and assisting with events. The role requires physical capability, reliable attendance, and ability to follow written and oral directions in English.

Qualifications

• Ability to drive to more than one location during a shift.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and climb to high places.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical if new employee.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness of District buildings including Sweeps, dusts, empties trash, cleans boards and surfaces.
• Cleans/maintains floors, walls, woodwork, windows; polishes metal surfaces.
• Assists in lawn care, landscaping, snow/ice removal of walkways.
• Operates basic building systems (heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical, mechanical).
• Assists in setups and tear downs for school activities.
• Observes/reports needed repairs; secures building rooms after shift.
• Shares responsibility for holiday, extended-day, and weekend activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
