Job summary

Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES seeks a Head Custodian for a full-time, 12-month role in the Operations and Maintenance area. The position oversees custodial staff, ensures building cleanliness and maintenance, and reports to higher-level staff. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM with possible overtime.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and relevant experience in cleaning and maintenance; class D driver license may be required. Pay is $23–$28 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

• Must meet the minimum qualifications for the Civil Service title of Head Custodian.
• High school diploma or equivalency, plus one of two experience paths in cleaning and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise custodians, cleaners and custodial workers; set work schedules and supervision.
• Inspect custodial activities to ensure standards are met; oversee cleaning and trash removal.
• Knowledge of floor care; perform minor repairs; monitor HVAC checks; handle complaints.
• Requisition, receive and manage supplies; maintain records of usage and activities.
• Supervise snow/ice removal and assist higher level staff; perform related duties as assigned.
