Job summary

The Veterans Home at Holyoke, part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is seeking an experienced RN III Nursing Supervisor for the Evening shift (3:00pm–11:30pm). This full-time role leads unit staff, directs patient care, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care for veterans.

Responsibilities include supervising RNs, LPNs, CNAs and administrative staff, managing scheduling and budgets, and promoting best practices.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active RN license with the MA Board of Nursing.
• At least 1 year as an RN in hospital/clinic; 6 months in supervisory/managerial role.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to interact tactfully with others.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Two years supervisory experience in geriatric/long-term care (preferred).
• Knowledge of nursing policies, medications and procedures.
• Ability to plan and direct nursing service across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and deliver quality nursing care to residents.
• Assess, plan and evaluate nursing care and progress toward goals.
• Serve as shift lead; manage staff scheduling, supplies and costs.
• Foster high standards through orientation and continued staff education.
• Coordinate with therapy, hospice, pharmacy, lab, housekeeping and geropsychology.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and state/federal regulations.
• Evaluate care through ongoing record review and performance improvement.
• Attend in-services and stay current with healthcare trends.
• Lead staff meetings to discuss patient status and needs.
• Handle payroll/attendance and performance documentation.
