Job summary

HB Specialty Foods is a family-owned producer seeking a QA Lab Assistant to test products to specification and report results promptly. You will work with QA teams to ensure food safety and continuous improvement of the quality program.

The Lab Assistant role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and effective communication, with opportunities for growth within a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean labs per good lab practices.
• Keep lab equipment clean and sanitized.
• Prepare and test samples per SOPs (color, aroma, viscosity, moisture, salt).
• Collect and test samples for environmental and water programs.
• Perform microbial testing (APC, yeast, mold).
• Arrange third-party test samples and schedule shipments.
• Analyze results and record findings.
• Maintain accurate records and calibration logs.
• Complete quarterly lab proficiency testing.
• Print and manage product labels; track usage.
• Follow Master Cleaning Schedule.
• Manage inventory of lab/production materials.
• Review documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
