Job summary

Southcoast Health seeks a Public Safety Officer I at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA. The position supports protection of patients, staff and visitors and ensures safety on campus during the evening shift.

Under supervision, you will monitor access, de‑escalate potential conflicts, and assist with emergency response; certifications and licenses may be required within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.
• Prior military, security, corrections, police, or relevant experience a plus.
• May require obtaining Special Police/Constable powers within a designated municipality.
• Massachusetts Fire Arms Identification Card and License to Carry Firearms may be required.

Responsibilities

• Protect and secure SHS assets, information, and ensure safety of all persons on hospital property.
• Guard against fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry; control access points.
