Job summary

Ardent Health Services is seeking an evening-shift, PRN Labor & Delivery Unit Clerk in Montclair, NJ. The role supports unit operations and patient flow, ensuring the nursing unit runs smoothly and communications are clear.

Responsibilities include administrative support, coordinating admissions/transfers/discharges with Care Management, maintaining patient records, and assisting with audits. High school diploma required; 1+ year unit clerk experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Strong office skills as well as interpersonal skills will be considered.
• 1+ years’ experience as a Unit Clerk in an acute care hospital is preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Unit Clerk is responsible for ensuring the assigned nursing unit runs efficiently.
• Responsible for providing secretarial support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, other hospital departments, and unit staff.
• Coordinate with Care Management concerning admissions, transfers, and discharges, and notify the hospitalist if needed.
• Maintain and update patients' records for a given unit.
• Perform a variety of general clerical and non-clinical patient duties, and facilitate communication.
• Expedite interdepartmental services and keep records required on the nursing unit.
• Assist the nursing staff in coordinating the activity of the unit.
• Assist with patient care/quality assurance audits.
• Perform all duties as assigned by the supervisor.
