Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a fitter in Brenham, TX to assemble pole components by tack welding small parts to shafts, following drawings and procedures. The role requires reading drawings, using welding and cutting tools, and lifting up to 50 pounds on an 2nd shift basis.

The position offers evening hours (3 PM - 11 PM) with potential overtime and a discretionary annual bonus. Starting pay is $26.07 per hour plus $1 shift differential, with step increases at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 1 year experience reading and using blue prints.
• 1 year experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, and/or graduate from an acceptable Technical Training Program focused in welding.
• Must pass FCAW weld test and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Tack welds various small components to pole shafts using FCAW; assemble pole shafts per drawings and procedures.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed; gather parts from Storeroom as staged.
• Position shafts on fixtures and use jigs, cranes and tools to assemble components.
• Operate grinders, torches, and drills; maintain safety and PPE.
