Job summary

Valmont Industries is hiring for a 1st shift welder/tacker at the Houston facility (reporting to Brenham operations). The role involves assembling pole shafts, welds, and related components using FCAW, following drawings and procedures.

Starting pay is $27.66/hour with potential step increases and discretionary bonus eligibility. The position requires reading and writing English, basic manufacturing math, and completion of FCAW certification.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 1 year experience reading and using blueprints.
• 1 year previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment or completed welding-related training.
• Must pass FCAW weld test and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Assembles products by tack welding small parts to pole shafts using FCAW welding process according to codes, procedures, drawings.
• Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed for pole assembly.
• Positions shafts on turner and uses jib crane to place components for assembly.
• Operates grinders, buffers, drills and cutting tools as needed during assembly.
• Maintains safety with PPE and monitors for potential hazards.
