Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection (finger and heel sticks) according to policies.
• Ensures positive patient identification and labeling of specimens at bedside.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens to the laboratory.
• Explains procedures to patients and provides reassurance.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace.
• Accurately documents patient and specimen information in the laboratory system.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered and prioritizes tasks.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to clarify orders and resolve collection challenges.
• Adheres to all safety and regulatory standards in the laboratory and hospital.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
