Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center seeks a per diem Medical Laboratory professional for the Evening shift in the Lab Microbiology section. You will follow pre-analytic and analytic procedures, maintain rigorous records, and ensure QC and calibration activities are documented and compliant.

Responsibilities include handling proficiency testing, reporting critical values on time, and participating in competency assessments, validations, and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Follows the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintaining records of these tests.
• Maintains records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Adheres to quality assurance procedures, including documenting QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
• Follows laboratory policies and procedures.
• Identifies and documents problems affecting test performance and notifies supervisor with corrective actions.
• Ensures accuracy and quality of all results across testing phases.
• Notifies clinicians and patient units of critical values and maintains STAT turnaround time.
• Participates in SOPs, proficiency testing, audits, and quality programs.
• Evaluates test results and confirms per department protocols.
• Participates in validations, training, and competency assessments.
• Manages inventory of lot numbers, expiration dates, labeling, and QC requirements.
• Completes annual training and regulatory readiness activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
