Job summary

Osborne Association, Inc. is seeking a part-time Peer Navigator for the 44th Police Precinct in the Bronx. The role delivers immediate support to individuals facing DAT-eligible charges, linking them to resources and crisis intervention to promote stability and reduce future system involvement.

The position operates from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Thursday through Monday, with coverage during holidays and during staff absences. A strong commitment to harm reduction and confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; harm reduction training preferred.
• Experience providing peer support or working in harm reduction, mental health, or social services.
• Knowledge of naloxone administration and overdose prevention techniques.

Responsibilities

• Meet with individuals charged with DAT-eligible offenses inside the police precinct after DAT paperwork.
• Engage participants and quickly build trust to offer services.
• Provide a welcoming, non-judgmental approach to encourage program participation.
• Complete a needs assessment with the participant.
• Present a tailored menu of services to address urgent needs.
• Provide emotional support and conduct therapeutic conversations.
• Coordinate with NYPD, service providers, and the DA's Office to facilitate the diversion process.
• Enter data after service provision to notify the DA’s Office when engagement occurs.
