Job summary

McLaren Mount Clemens is seeking a Patient Transporter to move patients safely throughout the medical center and assist with transfers, tests, and procedures. You will work under supervision with a focus on patient safety and efficient transport.

Responsibilities include using wheelchairs, stretchers, and mobility equipment, following HIPAA and OSHA guidelines, and maintaining a clean, infection-free environment while delivering compassionate care to patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Three months of job related experience.
• BLS certification.
• Prior related medical experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with other medical personnel to take patients from their current location to designated locations for medical tests or procedures, surgery, admission, discharge as directed.
• Helps patients in and out of bed, or using wheelchairs, stretchers and medical transport vans to get them to their destination.
• Uses appropriate patient handling equipment, transfer devices, and protective equipment in compliance with hospital policies and vendor specifications.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes good body mechanics.
• Works cooperatively with other members of the team and adheres to department and hospital policies and procedures. Maintains communication and collaboration with immediate supervisor.
• Appropriately cleans mobility equipment after each patient use (i.e. walkers, lifting equipment) per hospital policy.
• Observes and reports patient’s reaction to delivery process to appropriate personnel.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.
