Job summary

Endeavor Health, a fully integrated health system, seeks a Patient Safety Observer for the Swedish Hospital campus in Chicago. You will continuously monitor patients, redirect at-risk individuals, and promptly notify nurses of any changes or emergencies.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, CPR/BLS certification, and Care Companion training within two weeks of start. Evening hours are 3pm–11:30pm and per-diem availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Care Companion training completed within two weeks of start date.
• CPR/BLS certification from Red Cross or AHA.
• Strong communication, arithmetic, and basic computer skills.
• Ability to stay alert, patient, and focused during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe and monitor assigned patients at bedside or via video.
• Maintain constant visual observation to ensure patient safety.
• Redirect at-risk patients using in-person or audio communication.
• Notify nursing staff of needs, changes, or emergencies immediately.
• Participate in shift handoffs and report patient status and behavior.
• Support a safe environment by identifying potential hazards.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure patient safety while preserving dignity.
