Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking a part-time Nursing Station Clerk 1 for the Evening shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) under the NY HELPS program. The role includes greeting patients and visitors, answering phones, data entry, and assisting with patient charts and records.

Qualified candidates may be considered for temporary/provisional appointments with eligibility requirements; the position may be designated 55 b/c. Comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time clerical (in a health care setting), secretarial (in a health care setting), or patient care experience.
• Provisional candidates must take the examination for Nursing Station Clerk 1 when next offered.
• 55b/c designation eligibility letter required and transfer eligibility rules apply.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors and direct them to appropriate locations.
• Answer telephones and handle patient information with confidentiality.
• Prepare and maintain patient charts, daily log, and clinic log.
• Process physicians' orders and fill out medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions.
