Job summary

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Research Assistant I in Pathology to support SPARC project operations, handling specimens, data entry, and workflow coordination in a lab setting.

The role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow protocols; the schedule is Tue-Sat, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with flexibility for training and meetings as needed. You will collaborate with investigators and staff to ensure timely, accurate research progress.

Qualifications

• Education or experience in biology, chemistry, biomedical sciences, or related field preferred.
• Experience with biological specimen handling and laboratory workflows preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession, process, label, aliquot, and prepare research specimens per protocols.
• Manage specimen storage, retrieval, and disposition records.
• Package and ship specimens to outside labs or facilities.
• Enter and maintain data in databases and laboratory systems.
• Support pre-analytical and post-analytical workflows and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain research work areas, supplies, and storage areas.
• Follow protocols, safety, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with investigators and staff to ensure timely completion of activities.
